The aim of the Connect & Construct project is to increase the uptake of ICT in the Construction Industry. A Framework has been developed to show the benefits ICT can bring to construction companies, with a special focus on SMEs. To continue the C&C philosophy, especially the Principles & Rules, the C&C project is setting up a C&C governance group.
It is possible to distinguish the following key elements of the C&C governance scenario:
- A group of representatives of governmental organisations, non-profit organisations/ educational institutes, private software companies and Construction Industry companies all involved in the construction sector, will be responsible for the governance of the continuation of the C&C framework (Principles and Rules)
- Periodic evaluation of the C&C framework by means of an annual meeting will be a key governance task. It will be mainly focused on the renewal and further development of the framework based on new developments in the sector, and discussion how it can be used to stimulate digitisation in the Construction Industry further. The group should provide a clear signal to the market and policy makers about what are key requirements for effective digital information exchange in the Construction Industry.
- The European Commission, represented by DG Enterprise & Industry, will chair the meetings of the C&C governance group and provide the secretariat.
- By signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the closing C&C conference the organisations involved commit themselves to participating in the C&C governance group and actively promoting the C&C philosophy, notably the framework of principles and rules for digital exchange of information in the construction sector in Europe. These principles and rules can serve as inspiration and support for ICT developments in the sector by any organisation interested.
The first participants in the governance group will be the adopting fathers. At later stages other organisations can join the group.
